Evertrace first detected a signal of company formation for co-founder Jaakko Timonen in September 2025. Timonen was building GitHits after his work at AI consultancy Softlandia. Together with Olli-Pekka Heinisuo and the founding team, he was turning a recurring problem in software development into a new business.
What they're building
Coding agents can work well inside a local repository but struggle with an unfamiliar library or integration. A plausible-looking answer can still be incompatible with the version a developer is using.
GitHits searches real open-source implementations and returns code examples and dependency information. Its version-aware index gives developers and agents more concrete context when solving those problems.
The round
Vendep Capital and Trind participated in the $1.75 million pre-seed alongside angels including Peter Sarlin, Zach Shelby and Jerry Liu. GitHits announced the funding with its free beta launch, ahead of a planned commercial release later in the year.
