On 21 May 2025, Evertrace detected the first signal of company formation for Andi Hektor. That was 526 days before MuRay's funding announcement.
Andi Hektor founded MuRay with Kristjan Põder.
What they’re building
Dense metal, ceramic and composite parts are hard to see inside with X-ray. MuRay is developing Active Muon Imaging, which uses controlled muon beams to make high-resolution 3D images of the inside of such parts.
Its first focus is quality assurance for safety-critical components, such as 3D-printed rocket engines and gas turbine parts.
The round
First Momentum Ventures led the €3.5m private round, with Caelora as co-lead and Superangel, Mätch VC, Arcas VC, Tiny VC and Nordic Science Investments. €3.6m in public funding brings the total to €7.1m. MuRay plans a container-sized mobile system, a first industrial imaging service at DESY in Hamburg in 2027 and a full-scale laser-driven system in 2029.
