Tomas Kjellstrand founded Sortrace with Rahel Surshi.
What they’re building
Sortrace mounts cameras on waste collection trucks and analyses household bins as they are emptied. Its computer vision turns the images into structured data that flags incorrect sorting and tracks collection patterns.
Each result is tied to a bin and a route, so municipalities and waste companies can see where the problems are and act on them.
The round
Almi Invest led the $800k round, with Antler, Gorilla Capital and angel investors. Sortrace will use the funding to meet demand from municipalities and to take its technology beyond collection vehicles to other stages of waste management.
