Evertrace on etn.

Back in December 2025 our co-founder Jacob Graubæk Houlberg had the chance to talk about Evertrace on etn., a tech show focused on emerging companies and new technologies.
It was a great opportunity to discuss something we care deeply about at Evertrace:
How venture investors actually discover the next generation of founders.
Because the truth is, most startups are discovered far too late.
Venture discovery is still surprisingly manual
Despite all the data available today, a large part of venture sourcing still relies on:
- personal networks
- introductions
- conferences
- inbound decks
This worked when the startup ecosystem was smaller.
But today thousands of founders start building every month across GitHub, research labs, product communities, and stealth projects.
The problem is not that opportunities do not exist.
The problem is detecting them early enough.
What we discussed on ETN
During the etn. conversation we talked about:
- why founder detection is becoming a critical capability for venture firms
- how early signals often appear months before a company becomes visible
- how data infrastructure is changing the way investors source deals
One theme that came up repeatedly is that venture is slowly shifting from network driven discovery to signal driven discovery.
The best investors increasingly combine both.
